Isabelle Britton

Brass Technician

I have been playing trumpet since the age of 7 and music very quickly became a defining element of my life.
Throughout secondary school and A levels, I achieved a grade 8 distinction in trumpet and played as the principal trumpet player for South
Gloucestershire Music Hub. I went to Bath Spa University to study English Literature, and quickly became an honorary music student, taking part in
the university wind band as the only non-music student. In my final year of university, I was elected as president of
Bath Spa Big Band Society, which won Society of the Year 2019, achieved Silver at the Indoor Music Games – Bristol,
and performed live on BBC One. After my English degree was over, I went back to Bath Spa to study my masters degree in Music
Performance, and additionally joined the Kris Nock Big Band as lead trumpet where, as a band, we have had great success.

In my day job, I work as a breakdown controller for refrigerated lorries, however, I am due to return to university in September to train as a
secondary school teacher! Currently I live in Cwmbran with my boyfriend, George, and our two cats, Rupert and Greg, but I am orignally from Bristol
and spend a lot of my time there. I come from a family of die-hard drum corps participants/fans, so being a part of the sport is in my blood.
I’m very excited to be a part of Cadence, and can’t wait to see what we can achieve.
