Cedric Carstens

In 1990 Cedric was born in Kiel, in the north of Germany and is currently living near Hamburg. He started his musical career in a local marching band (Show- Brassband Heikendorf) with the age of 6. Through the years he played Cymbals, Snare and Tenor and gained his first experiences as an Instructor and Arranger.

In 2010 he was founding the Beatz Percussion Ensemble with 2 of his friends. Til today he’s director and designer. The ensemble started to compete at WGI/CGN in 2016. Beatz has been the first German independent indoor percussion unit competing at CGN.

For the 2011 season, he joined the snareline of the Starriders Drum & Bugle Corps and marched there until 2015. From 2013 he was the Battery Sectionleader.

2013 also marks the spot where Cedric joined the indoor percussion ensemble European X from the Netherlands. He spent 4 winters there and also had the possibility to compete at WGI in Dayton, Ohio in 2016. During these years he earned 3 CGN gold medals.

2016 was his first year of teaching drum corps as the Starriders Battery Caption Head and Percussion Director. He is currently holding these position and is their Battery Arranger since 2018. During his time at the Starriders he became german drum corps champion 8 times in total.

For the 2021 indoor season, he will be the Ensemble Caption Head for Cadence Indoor Percussion, a new project based in the UK.

Since 2015 Cedric is signed as an educational artist for Innovative Percussion Inc. from Nashville, Tennessee. Since 2017 he is also brand ambassador for the marching shop Southern Percussion from the UK and in 2019, he joined the team of D’Addario/ Evans Drumheads and Mair Drums Europe as an Artist.

He is proudly endorsing all of their products.

Besides that, he did various other projects as instructor and arranger and is offering clinics/ further education all over europe.

He is a passionate drummer with every breath and nothing pleases him more that the marching percussion activity.
